EnzArt is a gallery of books by Donald G. Enz. Several of these books are written and illustrated by me, while others are edited works using outside sources for reference material. I have published these books for your enjoyment and hope they live up to the highest standard of publishing.
My original books are primarily poetry which I have written over the years. Many of my poems were written with a specific original illustration in mind and accompany the poem in the books. I try to be entertaining while still presenting a lesson of life, an observation on the human condition or world affairs.
The edited books, where I have either used diaries, journals or newspapers, are published for general understanding of a person, time period or for historical and genealogical research. I firmly believe that knowing the past, either through a single person's eyes as written in their diaries and journals, or through newspaper accounts of the time period, helps modern man understand the world we live in.
A growing addition to my book galleries is articles from publications and journals written by my ancestors, which are both personal and historical. Also, I have several books about Claytonville and Cissna Park, Illinois, the foundation for these books is possible thanks to the owners of the "The Cissna Park News," who have given me permission to use their archived papers.
The "Gossip Columns" no longer exist in today's newspapers, most likely because of privacy issues, but they are a valuable resource for following one's family in the past. They are especially useful for following female names that change when they get married. Also, the obituary notices often include many ancestors/relatives that have been forgotten, or not mentioned in one's family.
